HOW TO CLEAN YOUR BLOW DRY BRUSH

We are giving you a friendly reminder to clean your Blow Dry Brush, we can often neglect this step. However, cleaning your Blow Dry Brush is important for number of reasons.

A dirty blow-dry brush can have several negative consequences, both for your hair and the effectiveness of the brush itself. Neglecting the cleaning process ruins the bristles and base of the tool whilst adding excess oil from the tool back to into your freshly washed hair.

Luckily, we are here to give you a guide on how to clean your brush and all the materials needed for this process.

** A general rule of thumb is to clean it at least once a week or each time you use it if your hair is thick, or you use a lot of products. Regular cleaning will help preserve the performance of your brush and contribute to a healthier hair care routine.

What You'll Need:

  • Warm Water
  • Mild Soap or Shampoo
  • A Microfibre Towel
  • A small Brush or Toothbrush
  • Optional: Vacuum with a small attachment
  • Optional: A touch of rubbing alcohol

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR BLOW DRY BRUSH:

Step 1: Unplug and Unwind

Start by unplugging your electric beauty buddy. Safety first, right?

Step 2: Hair Love

Gently remove any loose hair with a comb or small pair of manicure scissors. Your brush will appreciate the decluttering! Use either of these tools to lift any hair that is difficult to remove.

Step 3: Extra Declutter

If you are wanting to go that step further to remove all the pesky strands of hair. Use your Vacuum with a small brush attachment. This will pull out any of those extra strands while cleaning out the dust and other particles that can sometimes get trapped.

Step 4: Wipe Me Down

Using a damp microfibre towel, wipe down the barrel being careful not to bend the bristles. Try to remove any oils & residue.

Step 5: Brush Ballet

Grab a small brush or an old toothbrush and perform a graceful routine on the bristles. Imagine it as a gentle massage – no harsh moves, just love.

Step 6: Optional Star Treatment

Optional Star Treatment: If your brush deserves a little extra sparkle, use alcohol wipes to remove residue.

Step 7: Regular Hugs

Regular Hugs: Show your brush some regular love by removing loose hair after each use. A little maintenance goes a long way!

Your blow dry brush will thank you for the VIP treatment, and you'll enjoy a fresh and clean beauty tool for your next styling adventure!

The Overall Benefits of Cleaning

Product Buildup: Over time, styling products, hair oils, and residues from previous styling sessions can accumulate on the bristles of your brush. This buildup can transfer to your hair during use, leading to uneven application and potentially causing your hair to look greasy or weighed down.

Reduced Styling Performance: A dirty brush may not perform as effectively as a clean one. Product buildup can make the bristles less flexible and reduce their ability to grip and style your hair. This can result in a less smooth and polished finish. Furthermore, this can make the styling process more challenging. Tangled hair and debris on the bristles can hinder smooth brushing and make it harder to achieve the desired hairstyle.

Hygiene Concerns: Accumulation of hair, oil, and styling products on the brush can create a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. Using a dirty brush repeatedly can transfer these contaminants to your hair, scalp, and, in some cases, lead to skin issues or infections.

Weakened Bristles: Product residue and accumulated hair can weaken the bristles of the brush over time. This may lead to breakage or damage to the bristles, affecting the overall lifespan and performance of the brush.
