New Trend Alert: Hairstyles with Bangs & Fringes

The start of the new year is all about testing out new things and new hairstyles. We say if you aren’t confident enough to try the bob trend, definitely opt for bangs instead. Yes, cutting bangs can still be done very wrong and lead to later regrets…usually the result of a post breakup identity crisis. We instead ask you to put down the scissors, take a long breath and keep reading so that you can nail cutting your bangs correctly to best suit your face shape.

Here are our current favourite bang/fringe trends:

Curtain Bangs

This is one of our favourite fringes and will be trending massively throughout 2025. They are generally the most universally flattering fringe as they suit almost any face shape.

What to ask for: The cut is most typically shorter in the middle of the face and gets longer (curtain out) towards the sides. Don’t be afraid to show your stylist inspiration photos so they know exactly what length you want.

How to Style: We recommend styling your curtain bangs with the Interchangeable Blow Dry Brush. This tool is perfect to sweep the bangs down and out so that they fall, framing your face like a ‘curtain’.

Wispy Bangs

These bangs were extremely popular throughout 2024 following the uprising of Sabrina Carpenter and her iconic hair. Lucky us, they are here to stay in 2025. Wispy bangs usually look best on striking, angular faces as they soften them.

What to ask for: Now listen here and listen closely. Ensure you ask for shorter pieces to be layered and cut below the brows. Don’t make the same mistake as me of not specifying and ending up with a heavy blunt micro fringe.

How to style: Wispy bangs are super dainty compared to your traditional bangs and thus best styled with the Infrared Thermal Brush. Style them downwards to fall loosely over the face and allow your forehead to peek through.

Baby (Micro) Bangs

The baby bangs (or micro fringe) are essentially a shorter take on the wispy fringe. It looks amazing on people with small, petite faces, who usually get lost behind heavy bangs.

What to ask for: They are usually cut irregular to soften the look. Definitely show visual references for this one as you are going so short you don’t want to mess it up!

How to style: Our favourite product to style baby bangs is the Hair Styling Wax Stick. Rub the wax between your fingers and through your fringe to accentuate the strands and style in place as desired.

Full Bangs

This cut is your most classic, straight across bangs look. Full bangs usually work with any hair texture, but especially look great on people who have angular faces and a high forehead as they visually shorten the face.

Hot tip: If you have a smaller, petite face avoid this type of fringe as it can compress the face.

What to ask for: With a full fringe, make sure you ask your hairdresser to leave lots of texture and length so the hair keeps its ‘fullness’. You can always thin and shorten it more from there!

How to style: Our Blow Dry Brush does a phenomenal job at styling a full fringe. Lightly shape the fringe forward with the brush to achieve that ‘natural’ volume look.

Grown Out Fringe/Bangs

A grown out fringe is more face framing than a traditional fringe and follows a similar shape as curtain bangs, however is less structured.

What to ask for: Ask for the shortest part of the fringe to not fall beyond the tip of your nose. From this point the rest of the fringe gradually gets longer.

How to style: Either the Infrared Thermal Brush or Interchangeable Blow Dry Brush are best to achieve this look. Use either to brush/blow dry the hair down in front of your face. After blow drying tuck behind your ears to achieve the desired face framing look.
