A Guide to Getting Undone, Boho Waves

a boho hair how-to...

1. Always use a heat protectant

Whenever heat is touching your hair, heat protectant spray is a must.

“Add your heat protector spray and plumping foam — just on the mid lengths and ends,” Anthony instructs. “Scrunch in the foam and run your fingers through, so the hair has an uneven texture now … combing through religiously with a fine tooth comb.”

2. Your Hair Dryer Is Your Best Friend

You want to start with dry hair, so be sure to give your tresses a blast with some heat.

“Blast dry with your hairdryer and if warranted, use a large round brush to smooth over for rougher hair textures for taming,” Anthony explains.

3. Wonky lines are okay

The key to keeping it messy but cool is to make sure the right parts are, well, a mess.

“Now the hair is completely dry, keep your natural part line in and forego a strict clean line here as well,” Anthony says.

Keeping your part natural will give that “I woke up like this” effect — plus, tousselled waves with a slick-back style clean part just won’t make sense.

4. Less is more

No, seriously: you’re going for an effortless look so less effort may actually be most effective.

“Take a look at the texture you’re seeing and now add your new personality of creating the slightest bump or ripple in the hair, by picking up haphazard sectioning with your hair straightener or curling tong through the hair and leaving the whole top area as its needs to look more lived-in,” says Anthony.

“This is so visual so don’t think so mechanical and regimented,” he adds.

5. Add some oomph

Undone doesn’t hav to equal flat, BTW.

“Once completed, give your hair a little shake out and add your texture spray here now if you want more texture. Oh, and don’t worry too much about the odd flyaways as this is another main identity of your signature Chloe girl hair and of course those famous Olsen twins that are too my go-to’s for looking done, but UNdone,” Anthony finishes.
